Lights, camera , actions!!

Ready for 3rd Term.

Today, we start our Easter holidays. It is a good moment to relax and spend time with our families.
Before finishing school, we wanted to  give a nice surprise to our students: this wonderful door display!!

Next term, we shall continue with films and cinema project. We´ll learn about superheroes and super heroines. It will be amazing!! and they are very motivated now to start learning.

 

Stop motion in art class

After making flip books , our students have learnt about Stop Motion technique. They love it and it is a great tool :
  • to develop linguistic skills
  • to be organized and develop plot sypnosis
  • to develop cooperative team work
  • to develop technological skills

Using videoconference in class

Videoconference is one of the most important tools to motivate children to use the foreign language. For this lesson, we have used a Zoom videoconference meeting and it has been useful for:
  • Meeting new friends
  •  Using English as a way of real communication 
  • Developing  communicative skills
  • Developing  technological skills
  • Increasing motivation 

Song for friends


This week, we are focussing our attention in teamwork and friendship. This song is a very nice way to talk about the importance of having friends.

Cooperative work

Using cooperative activities make students to understand the importance of team work.
Within this activity, they check how well they can do a difficult activity if they work together. Whenever they have a problem to solve, they can be helped by friends.

The story of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter

This is one of the nicest stories for kids. It was writen by Beatrix Potter. We use this story to be involved in for Spring time.

Today is a very special day for dads: children give them presents, and spend the day with them. It is a good day to play and have fun with dads.

Plants can talk!!!

After investigating and having information about parts of the plants, our students use an app to create this amazing material. This activity gives them the opportunity to:

  • Develop technological skills
  • Develop speaking skills
  • Develop memory skills

Within this activity we:

  • Develop reading skill
  • Develop children cooperative work

We give to the different groups a card related to a part of a plant, and files to be completed with all the most important facts of the parts of the plants. They will need to change groups and read about the information cards they need. They will write down only the most relevant information.



Creating our own garden





Now, it is the turn to experiment and observe  plants. We have done two simple experiments with kids for them to observe how plants grow and work.
Experiment 1: How can we change the color of flowers?



Experiment 2: Growing seeds in a plastic glass



After learning about plants and flowers, our students will do a relaxing and creative activity .
All the groups of students will have some craft materials on their desks ( the materials  can be different for each group).
The challenge consists in creating a plant with flower using the material in a creative way. They also have to write down the parts of the plants.
Then, it  will be exposed  in the school hall as a display for Spring time.

A special interview

Today has been a special day for our 6th level class. We have met two great film stars: Charles Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe.

This activity is good for:

  • making questions
  • answering questions
  • have fun
  • talk about past 
  • cooperative work ( to create good questions)
  • to know our student´s knowledge about these two important celebrities



Within this activity, we have checked that our students don´t know important facts about these two film stars, so they will do some activities about reading and investigating about their lifes.

Playing with movements: FLIP BOOKS

The story of movies is very interesting. First, movies were based on motion scenes. Children watch a short video about story of cinema and then, they watch several examples of flip books.
They have to get some ideas about how to make one. After that, they will have to create their own flip books and tell to their friends the story on it.

To create our own Flip Books, we need:
  • a small post-its notebook
  • pencil
  • rubber
  • colours
  • and Imagination!!!

  • ¿Cuál fue el primer libro que leíste? El primer libro del que tengo un recuerdo claro es "Un tiesto lleno de lápices"
  • ¿Porqué escribes? Por varias razones: unas más egoístas como las de mostrar nuestro trabajo, exteriorizar mis opiniones sobre la educación e incluso aprender continuamente de los demás  y otras más altruistas como: la necesidad de compartir y abrir las puertas de nuestro aula.
  • ¿Tienes una musa o inspiración? Tengo 80, cada una de ellas con nombres y apellidos de niños de quinto y sexto de primaria.
  • ¿Escribes lo que vives o vives lo que escribes? En nuestro caso no hay diferencia. Nunca hago copia y pega. Nuestro blog es real, con los pies en el aula. Los recursos y actividades que aparecen son las que realmente llevamos a cabo día a día.
  • ¿Cuál ha sido tu gran amor? Mi gran pasión , es mi trabajo y los locos bajitos ( algunos ya más altos que yo) que me miran cada día.
